Sculpting from the Inside, Out
A class designed to increase confidence in our unique inner vision, enliven imagination and develop playful clay techniques.
Over the five weeks we will be creating 3 projects:
A pinched and abstract formed pot – getting familiar with clay, techniques and learning to simply play;
A “Pot Head” – takes things a step further and invites you to visualize a face that you may pull out of your pot;
A slab formed and sculpted cloaked figure you will coax up from your imagination using playful visualization. Ready or not!
The class will culminate in a raku firing of the work… A fun, fiery and exciting technique with immediate results!
Five classes, including all materials and firing: $200
10 participants max. Please book you place with Anam Cre Studio
All classes will run from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, except for on January 4th, when class will run from 4pm to 6pm for the early evening Raku firing.

Kimchi for Christmas
Friday December 7th
Jarred Pfeiffer will demonstrate how he creates his large fermenting vessels. He will demonstrate the coil throwing method which is styled after the Korean Onggi method. Demo 1:30-3:30. Participants will then assist Jarred in chopping and mixing for kimchi. They will then pack the fermenting jar and let it sit. Everyone is asked back Friday December 21st to unpack the kimchi and take home a batch that they helped create.
Raku Art After Dark
The public is invited to take part in a raku firing. We encourage you to come take a class and make your own pieces for the Raku firing held every 1st Friday. Plan to make your raku pieces 2 weeks in advance, allowing time to dry and be ready for the firing. Evening drop in guest may choose from a selection of pots ready to glaze and fire during the First Friday each month. Mike McNutt joins us and brings his expertise to the magic of the night. The meaning of Raku is the four elements. Earth, fire, water and wind. The fee is $35 includes 1 pot of ours provided or 3 of your own. Each month we also feature an artist! Please join our Raku party night! If it rains we will cancel the firing and have some wheel throwing demonstrations!
