Anam Cré is a pottery studio in San Luis Obispo we provide a supportive atmosphere for anybody interested in clay, whether an absolute beginner, or an advanced potter or sculptor. We teach children and adults including  those in need of  memory care and their caregivers. This is a nice activity involving music and art. “Wee Ones and Wise Ones”  a class for children 5 and under and a favorite wise friend.

We have 8 wheels, a slab roller, a fine collection of texture molds and two very hard working kilns! When you arrive you can expect to learn a few techniques. First learn to throw a bowl and a cup on the pottery wheel. Another option is to roll out clay, texture it and form it over a shape of your choice. Allow 7-10 days for the clay to dry and be bisque fired. After bisque firing plan to come back and glaze your work , allowing 1 week to fired the second time.  Due to limited space we hold onto pieces for 3 months and then we donate them to the food bank.

We also have Pre-made pottery ready to glaze

We offer a nice selection of pieces to choose from. Some of the pieces are handmade by our Anam Cre’ Potters! Cups, pitchers, plates, butter dishes and more. For kids some of the items are faeries, gnomes, animal banks, boxes, race cars and trains. It is best to drop in during any of our class times. Please allow yourself at least an hour to glaze. We will show you screen printing and various glazing options. Check out our Glaze it parties. Shipping arrangements can be made.
