Anam Cré is a pottery studio in San Luis Obispo that provides a stimulating and supportive atmosphere for anybody interested in clay, whether an absolute beginner, or an advanced potter or sculptor. We teach children and adults. People join together to create in clay. We have 6 wheels, a slab roller, a fine collection of texture molds and two very hard working kilns! When you arrive you can expect to learn a few techniques. First learn to throw a bowl and a cup on the pottery wheel. Next roll out clay, texture it and form it over a shape of your choice. And the third option is to sculpt a small figure. Allow a week for the clay to dry and be bisque fired. After a week or two plan to come back and glaze your work , allowing a week to be fired once again.
Glaze it! Pre-made pottery
We offer a nice selection of pieces to choose from. Some of the pieces are handmade by our Anam Cre' Potters! Cups, pitchers, plates, butter dishes and more. For kids some of the items are faeries, gnomes, animal banks, boxes, race cars and trains. It is best to drop in during any of our class times. Please allow yourself at least an hour to glaze. We will show you screen printing and various glazing options. Check out our Glaze it parties. Shipping arrangements can be made.
